The Times Poem by Barry Middleton

The Times

the horizon knows troubled times
rumbling dark thunder
the clash of hatred

the nation is torn by a fire storm
neighbor against neighbor
the family broken

leaders swear allegiance to greed
corruption fortified
flood and burden

the people rise to demand change
rejecting the betrayal
of bitter winds

I think there is something in human DNA that divides us based on primal fears of all that are not of our tribe. Some of us see the need to change that. Many do not.
