The Truth Mix Poem by Paula Glynn

The Truth Mix

Confide in me, telling a truth mix,
Problems need to be addressed,
And those issues have to be talked through,
As they're fixed and dealt with,

A teenage girl's boyfriend,
Sometimes rude and abusive,
The hurt she feels,
Even though before,
The love felt real,
He now just causes hurt,
But her friends she confides in,
The truth of her abusive relationship told,

Her boyfriend's heart is cold,
But her friends are supportive,
They make the sun shine,
After the rain, like a rainbow,
For there is hope for her,

Any hug and affectionate word,
Gentle advice followed and heard,
Those lyrics of "I will survive"
Repeating in her head,
The love for her boyfriend,
Deceased, dead,
And she walks on,
She will wear those feminine heels,
And stay brave and strong,

Sitting with her friends,
She tells the truth mix,
She knows she is not alone,
The world always on her side,
The world always her precious home,

And her boyfriend sits alone,
In his empty, painful home,
His girlfriend having had enough,
For he now knows he was wrong,
And he now wonders what other girl,
Will fall for him and come along,

Whether he learns respect,
For girls and women,
One can only hope,
Because no girl or woman,
Will put up with his abuse,
His aggression, his violence,
Time teaching him the error of his ways,
For as an old man, he will have learnt.
