The View Over My Shoulder (Thanks, Again, Jim Hogg!) Poem by Scarlett Treat

I never cease to be surprised,
As I look over my shoulder,
Just how clear has become
My view - of you!

I used to struggle to see
When you were still with me,
But the tears in my eyes
Blinded my sight.

Now, as I look back,
I see what then I lacked,
Because I was too closed,
And too close, and too busy.

I did not give you what I should have,
And I also did not receive from you,
And so, our relationship suffered,
And we did not make it through.

The sadness of my life is this,
That I missed your kiss,
And I missed my chance
For an honest romance,

For I was too busy then
To Deeply understand
What I have now grown to know,
Now that I am alone, and old.
