The Waters Poem by Alex Kenneh

The Waters

Your young menace to society our School Daze,
An unfathomable like for you on rainy days,
Just the idea of you during study halls,
ripples over my loose leaf papers,
The moon adrift, various ids and egos, I'm immersed in your layers.

Another foggy college night, you're dedicated to your studies,
Any other time we're more than buddies.
Tapping on episodes with a familiar guest star,
Osmosis replaying memories, when we
didn't know how to act.
Now we're classy, matter of fact, Like Water for Chocolate
playing in the back.

Living on rain checks to refunds, but do I dare?
Open to her presence, me myself and you, this one sided affair,
She's divine - vibrations on an unknown frequency, I was snapped,
Forever faded - her silhouette doesn't even react!

But back when yes was your previous answer,
In the folded up passed letter,
highschool prom blues: fussing over something trivial.
Matching colors when maybe was pivotal,
marching bands, "we're just friends" ba dum bump
she held it up for ransom,
Dwayne Wayne and Denise themed, it's A Different World
was our anthem.
