The Women Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

The Women

The Women

Once, near my birthday
Came with gift, a friend.

Was well wrapped with ribbons,
Had flowers on top.

He knew I read books
Was sure he brought book.

Slowly, cautiously,
Undid all the wrapping.

I was right.

Unknown was the writer
And great was title:
"All about the women! "

With blank started,
I flipped, to the end,
Not a word except the:
"An unknown creature! "

Being born in Iran
Am aware of the love,
Romantic, spiritual
Between us as mankind
And for God, far above,
And about the women
A countless up and down!

Devotions, revenges,
Sacrifice and murder!

And result:
"I am lost! "
"I am lost! "
"I am lost! "

No further,
No beyond!
