The Younger Boleyn And Diana Poem by gershon hepner

The Younger Boleyn And Diana

Rating: 5.0

When Henry met Annie Boleyn
He said, “ Let the revels begin! ”
He’d been a defender
of faith, but her gender
made faithlessness seem no big sin.

When Charles pledged his troth to Diana,
He thought, “I’ll do this in a manner
That works for Camilla,
But I’m not a killer
Like Henry”––dimwitted deadpanner.

When Di was surrounded by suitors,
Reporters all thought she had kudos,
Till she tried, when in Paris,
The Prince to embarrass,
like Annie betrayed by the Tudors.

Princess Diana was the direct descendant of both paternal aunts of Queen Elizabeth, who were the queens of Scotland and France, as well as from Anne Boleyn's sister Lady Mary Carey.
