There Will Come A Time Poem by Bill Galvin

There Will Come A Time

Rating: 5.0

She'll never see these blooms again;
One last summer before she goes away.

We'll never walk this way again;
Down the drive or in the flowered yard
To admire the plantings of past repaid.

She'll not watch the seasons change again,
When leaves are down and lawns are brown;
She will not be able to stay around
To welcome the next green days.

We'll never ride the countryside again;
Or plan a long trip to refresh our soul,
Or travel side by each as pilots and partners
Exploring all reachable byways.

We'll never share a goodnight kiss again,
Or say 'I love you', reply 'Ditto, ditto';
Or declare 'You and me, Babe' when things get tough
And seem too much to bear,
And we need to keep our fears at bay.

But, today we will… today we absolutely will.
We'll accept what is and manage what is to be,
And we'll live from day to day.

And tomorrow's a gift and we'll laugh again.
We'll laugh still again
And she'll flash her most beautiful smile again.
She'll roll her lovely blue eyes again
When I say something foolish.
She'll say 'Sweet dreams, Honey-pie'
And I'll reply in kind.

So, we'll walk and travel and observe and share as one;
And eat ice cream;
And feel the breezes and soak in the sun.
We'll no longer dream,
But, we'll listen to the gentle showers;
And greet the morning light;
We'll welcome the birds that sing,
And those fireflies alit at night.
We'll embrace what there is remaining,
And admire the butterflies alighted upon our flowers.

To have had this wonderful bond that so many never experience is a blessing. May your incredible memories fill your heart.
