There For Me Poem by Bill Galvin

There For Me

Rating: 5.0

Paddling downstream over running rapids,
I looked over…
And saw her standing on the riverbank.

Climbing steep and narrow cliff side trails,
I glanced up…
And saw her looking over from the rim.

Flying through clouds and turbulence,
I turned my head…
And saw her poised calmly off my shoulder.

Seeking harbor from stormy seas,
I squinted over the bow…
And saw her peacefully sitting at the shore.

Slogging through a boggy mire,
I looked ahead…
And saw her patiently waiting at forest edge.

Navigating the wayward winds of change,
I stared down…
And saw her signaling from a safe landing strip.

Negotiating a landscape of heartache,
I viewed the scene…
And saw her assuredly waving me onward.

Traveling the passages of time,
I listened…
And heard her words of encouragement.

I opened my eyes…
And saw her, my dear and lovely friend,
And assimilated her welcoming smile,
And felt her encouraging presence,
There for me then…
All the way, all the time,
And today, and always,
There for me…

As I will be, for her.
