This Fence Poem by Ima Ryma

This Fence

Rating: 5.0

'Round the residence I first came
Made of wood so as to keep out
Livestock from gardens was the aim,
But then needed strengthened no doubt.
So the wood was replaced by stone.
Slowly iron and steel bars were set.
I messaged a no trespass zone,
My purpose to repel a threat.
Then guards, both human and dog sort
Constantly patrolled around me.
I was high tech sensored to thwart
Any over, under, through be.

Meant to deter any nonsense,
I'm the 'keep'em out' White House fence.

Thought provoking poem. Makes one think how a simple beautiful wooden fence to keep animals out of the garden has been changed to ugly barriers induced by ever increasing fear. Good poem
