This Lonesome Heart Poem by Matthew Holloway

This Lonesome Heart

This lonesome heart weeps
a most sorrowful tale
of loneliness in each night
of lost dreams and a belief
that better days may be
this lonesome heart cries alone
and spit curse all of those
perhaps could have been
chances taken and lost
forgivable with a chance taken
yet still an erosion
to the soul and spirit
that few see or understand
is at play and a reality
to this lonesome heart
whose prayers and tears
are left unanswered
love plays not this song
love comes not this way
love is for another to know
and lonesome hearts
exist to be betrayed
by hope and dreams
hence it is what it is
why the lonesome heart weeps
