Lo, my wounds lay open again
Smell of blood in senses rears
In my house of darkness enters the morning light
Pale and vapid twilight
Without radiance or delight
On the wall once again the same face appears
Take away far from here
This morning without a glow
This morning without a tear
Take away this dawn
Let me dwell in the darkness my sorrow endears
The book glowed in its own light
Every page was bright
Each word's flame I extinguished in a deluge of tears
(Translation of an Urdu poem by Fehmida Riaz. I dedicate this translation to her memory.)
On the wall once again the same face appears Take away somewhere far from here This morning without a glow This morning without a tear...... wonderful translation.
Brilliant translation. You have done justice to her poetry. I have read some English translations of her poems on this site. She was outspoken, daring, and truly inspirational. She made a mark, she will be remembered.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
You did a brilliant justice to an outspoken talented poet's writing.
