This Too You Knew Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

This Too You Knew

Not once did I object,
To what it was you did to do.
Unconventionally I accepted,
Every move you made.
I never questioned with who.

Nor did I suggest or recommend,
Another decision to make.
Instead of following behind,
Your choice of friends.
Hoping at least one lesson,
You would learn.
Without you saying,
"There you go butting in my business...
Again! "
And this too you knew.

Yet now you come to accuse me,
Of interfering in your life.
Without hearing me say a word.
Or even offer my advice.
And now you claim,
I'm the one to blame to think this right.
Leaving me to believe,
I am the one confused.
But we both know it has been you,
Thinking I was interfering in your life...
Because those 'friends' you listen to,
Ask you more about what it is I do.
And why you haven't bothered,
To show or express interest!
With this too you knew none to me shown.

Not once did I object.
To what it was you did to do.
Every move you made.
I never questioned with who.
And when I was told,
"There you go...
Butting in my business,
Again."

Well...
This too you knew.
To know less about why I would ask,
About my interest I had in you.
And what you did to care.

"Oh.
OH...WOW!
Why didn't you tell me that? "

Once!
That's all it takes for me,
To deliver what is wished.
Quicker than an eye to blink.
And this too you knew.
Or should by now.
