This Winter Day Poem by Bill Galvin

This Winter Day

Rating: 4.5

The skeletal outlines of whole trees sway
Against a backdrop of sky, wood-ash gray,
As a cold north-wind sweeps in and blows
Painted white streaks of driven snow
Within this chilling and blustery squall…
Highlighting a nearby, old stone wall.

Behind the clouds, a moon waxes or wanes;
Beyond the storms, lie some glories and gains;
As the vapor of a warm breath disappears
Into vague, invisible atmospheres,
Calm, and the storm, do both record
The two sides of Life… and Nature's sword.
