Those Safe Isolated Places Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Those Safe Isolated Places

There are more than not,
Living lives more diverse.
Than many who have chosen,
To live within fences.
Isolated to separate themselves,
From those more mentally enhanced.
With it known to be looked down upon,
By the ones who debate what diversity should be.
And if they should tolerate,
Those they imitate in safe places.
In which they live in subdivisons imprisoned.
Behind fences.
Gates.
And paid security guards checking them.
As well as licence plates on cars they drive.
Before they are let in,
To those safe, isolated places.
Places where they stay away,
From a diversity not to live it.
But can travel,
To and from it after witnessing it displayed.
