Those Same Paths Taken Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Those Same Paths Taken

Those same paths taken,
That have become trenches.
Remain to stay repeated ways,
People take to reach dead ends.
And cracked aging walls,
They stand tall to hit their heads against.
Leaving no one yet to be convinced,
Their wish with wants to have changes made.
Should begin with evaluating their beliefs.
And why it is their beliefs to keep them,
Have them tormenting themselves.
With it done to grieve in unity.
Then return to celebrate successfully,
A gathering together again to discuss...
What they should prioritize,
To live better lives to end conflicts.
That will rid misunderstanding,
Division and confusion among themselves.

"What if,
We began listening to pay attention.
And stop doing the same thing,
Over and over again.
To get the same results.
There are other paths we can take.
In ways we have never done before."

-Always there is 'someone'.
Someone trying to have us,
Abandon the traditions of our ancestors.
Traditions that have been our way of life.
For more than two or three hundred years.
As if we are not aware,
Of all the progress made around us.
As if we are not aware,
Of all the good God has done.-

"If we remain ignorant how cement is made.
What foundation can we claim,
Is our right to stand upon."

-You young folks always talking about,
Horizons and Sun rises and Sun sets.
If you stop smoking that 'stuff'...
You would have more appreciation,
For all the food here folks brought.
To celebrate the annual,
"LET'S DO THIS AGAIN NEXT YEAR" picnic.
Go fix yourself a plate.
And act like you got some sense.-
