Thoughts Distorted Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Thoughts Distorted

A wrong to do is taught.
By a teacher.
Influencing a listener.
With thoughts distorted.
And easy to become prey,
Are children indoctrinated.
To follow and obey, Instructions and assignments.
Victims to comformity.
Leaving the mavericks to ask,
Repeated questions.
To go ignored unanswered.

Resulting for many,
In a loss of identity.
Integrity, dignity and respect.
Absent of any of this to give.

A wrong to do is taught.
As if sought to seek to deceive,
Is a consent given approval...
To invite and incite,
The igniting of conflict.
Since for many these days,
Hypocrisy is an ongoing...
Never to end,
Battle with truth.
Perpetuated,
By misled uninformed...
Deluded misdeeds doers.
Intentionally taught to teach,
A living of a wrong.
With thoughts distorted,
From children to adults.
Only to know,
Fiction presented.
And defend as their reality!

'Little is the garbage to feed,
Has nutritional value.
Or leaves long lasting,
Significance.'

'Only those who know that,
Are the ones who refused...
A sustained diet on nonsense.'

'And...
The withdrawal symptoms?
To do that cold turkey too?
Is praiseworthy.
It took me months,
Eliminating...
My addiction,
To have my delusions fixed.
On a daily basis.'

'You?
It took me longer than that,
To realize...
I was embarrassing myself.
Begging to be deluded.
It got so bad,
I found myself stalking people.
Demanding,
They handed over to me...
Their fantasies! '

'No? '

'Yes!
Pleading with them to share.'
