Thrilled Poem by Ronald Strickland

Thrilled

At the end of my hot summer day,
I found a place where a tree created shade.

As I sat beneath
and enjoyed a cold one and the cool breeze,
my thoughts wandered to another place and time.
With the drive-in movies,
curb hops who smiled at you
while you sat behind the wheel of your automobile.

A place where I felt the whole world was mine,
no place to be at any given time.

A romantic place called Bloomer Hill,
where so many got their thrill.

A place where friends would meet with their sporty automobiles and drag race
or spill a wheel.
Wow!
Yelling in my ear.
Darn!
So much for a dream.
I'll come back to this place again another time.
