Thunder In The Air - Haiku Sequence Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Thunder In The Air - Haiku Sequence

Thunder in the air
reading Walter De La Mare
words become raindrops

Thunder in the air
raindrops glisten in your hair
eyes wide with wonder

Ah, little birdies!
Put their wings over their heads
sleeping off the storm

The birds are afraid!
See thunder stride amongst them
scattering lightning!

Talking in raindrops
the trees chatter to each other
mad...mad as hatters!

Sunloungers recline
in a rain storm...wondering where...
the hell...the sun's gone!

An old fireplace
forgotten in a garden
set ablaze by the rain.

i liked this series of haikus, donall... difficult to pick the best as they are all visually interesting but i'd say my favourite is: Talking in raindrops the trees chatter to each other mad...mad as hatters! rachael
