Ties Renewed Poem by Andy Brookes

Ties Renewed

mouth was full of razor edges, face was full of hurts,
madness a voice calling through the hole in my head.
a terrifying seat of confoundation, throne of disbelief
there is more of the dark in me than light
too much soul and not enough mind.

the long spaces of silence buzz with hornet stings,
desiccated husks of things unsaidlinger, too late
to darn the tatters, I thought, of our friendship.
like ghosts on the shoulder, flimsy yetweighing worlds,
impotent watchers, part of our pasts and futures, listening intent.

funny we both stand here though driven down different paths
from different worlds yet here we collide to end up in the same place
likedivergent rivers arriving cognate at the sea.
locking eyes, understandingwords would be useless here in this time.
years fall like snake skins revealing the other you, the other me
and we stand scoured by age of both hate or desire.
we are the same but different amazement that our friendship's still intact
so we hold hands and now stride into the future vows renewed.

" our friendship....., flimsy yetweighing worlds" i like the wording but not the foreboding(?) this may signal (for you?) . " our friendship's still intact so we hold hands and now stride into the future vows renewed." This not only sounds much more positive, but it makes me reinterpret the first quote i copied (above) as a positive thought as well. Good! ! bri ;) to MyPoemList
