Tis A Noise That I Love Poem by Francis Duggan

Tis A Noise That I Love

Rating: 4.5

Though i live a long way inland from the sea
The giant waves are rumblings in my memory
I watch the waves flow up the beach in the night
So much like liquid silver in the dim moonlight
Though i live far inland from the ocean shore
In fancy i can hear the huge surf waves soar
Against the volcanic rocks when the tide rushes in
The crash of the waves an unmistakeabe din
Though to the great ocean i live nowhere near
The sounds of the sea in my memory i hear
The pied oystercatchers piping as they fly
And the silver gulls mew and the black backed gulls cry
And in the hour of full tide the great ocean's din grow
Tis a noise that i love and a noise that i know.
