To Do What I Should Have Done Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

To Do What I Should Have Done

If I didn't,
Then who would?

'Then who would,
Do what? '

That which I didn't do.

'What is it that you do? '

I don't know.
I haven't done it yet.

'Then why worry about,
Someone else doing it? '

And then again,
If I went ahead and did it,
It would be done.

'Well...
Why don't you do it? '

That's the point I am making.
I want to do it...
But,
What is it that I want to do?

HEY...
Why are you walking away?

'To do what I should have done,
The moment you opened your mouth.'

Is that suppose to be funny?
Well...

IT ISN'T.
