To Learn For Them Ends Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

To Learn For Them Ends

Lessons to learn them,
Should never for anyone...
To think or believe,
Lessons to learn for them ends.
Or those who teach them to be taught,
Deserves disrespect for their thoughts.
Because those unable to listen,
Refuse to pay attention to the message.
Yet expect their lack of having knowledge,
Or experience to have been obtained.
More credible than the one,
Who remains obstinate.
Ignorant.
And quick to belittle and demean,
Anyone who provides lessons to teach.
For free.
But pays the expense for being insulted.
By someone accustomed to live a life limited.
With material things acquired.
As if this proves,
They are immune from being taught...
By anyone not sharing,
The same ambitions to imitate others.
With minds equally limited to possessions.
To perceive what is possessed,
Qualifies success achieved.
And lessons to learn from those with less,
To do as a choice.
Also represents,
The kind of respect they 'should' be given.
But not to get from those...
Whose minds are focused,
On the value of material things.
And the impressions having image brings.
