To Love Them And Leave Them Poem by Francis Duggan

To Love Them And Leave Them

Rating: 5.0

The roadways of life he has been up and down
Since he ventured north of the far away town
In shearing sheds far north of the countryside near Ararat
The man who has been there and who has done that

He has worked on building sites and pipeline crews to earn his every pay
And in life nothing easy does come his way
As well as a shearer and pipe layer and building worker many other jobs he has tried
The nomadic young man who is always employed

A physically strong man of dread locks of dark brown
He has drank in pubs in many a town
In his mid twenties in the prime of his life
He does not have children or a long term partner or wife

But of brief sexual liaisons he has had quite a few
And in every town for him always someone new
A young bloke who enjoys the brief sexual fling
To love them and leave them in life is his thing

His travels they have taken him far and wide
Of home in Ararat's flat countryside
In his mid twenties in his physical prime
His sort is the inspiration of song, story and rhyme.
