Too Hot For Man Or Beast Poem by Edwina Reizer

Too Hot For Man Or Beast

Rating: 5.0

Intolerable heat has invaded the East
More intense than ever before.
First there was Sandy, the hurricane
And this is the Jersey Shore?

I've lived here for seventy-five years
And have never lived through this.
Must stay inside and out of the sun.
There must be something amiss.

One hundred degrees and climbing higher.
Makes me want to scream.
'Iced pops or iced tea..
Give me some damned ice-cream.'

God, Almighty what have we done?
Is this what it's like in hell?
Send us a thunderstorm and lightning
To break this horrid heat spell.
