True Mirror Poem by Obed dela Cruz

True Mirror

Rating: 5.0

When I look at you, I see my reflection.
There’s nothing to hide, even my derision.
You tell me when I have a stain on my face.
You can tell me when I need a new life’s phase.

In some times, what you make me see is painful.
But I know deep inside that it is helpful.
You’re just doing your job as a true mirror.
You don’t want me to be an ugly terror.

In the past, many wanted to destroy you
Because many thought that the snare was you.
But because many have kept you, you’ve endured.
With the power you have, you broke the dark cord.

Today, you reveal the hidden mysteries.
You give truth and lessen pain and miseries.
Truly, you’re needed in this society
Because you make people’s lives have quality.

And now, you told me that there’s no ugly truth
When I accept correction and keep my worth.
For if I accept good and wise corrections,
I will be better and shall have no derisions.

I must give the best that I can
So that I’ll be a better man.
