Turn To Stone Poem by Lodigiana Poetess

Turn To Stone

Rating: 5.0

When you know, as I know, the things that I know
life is never a strange mystery.
When you see what I've seen, in the places I've been,
You will know what it's like being me.
But you judge and you guess
and you know even less
than a stranger who happens on by,
You believe I don't grieve,
wear my heart on my sleeve,
you know nothing and can't testify,
to the times when I bleed
knowing I can't succeed
in reversing the things that cause pain.
To feel warmth on my face
and to feel the embrace
of true empathy given again.
So just look away,
I don't need you to stay,
I'm an island contained by the tide.
I can cope all alone
in my private air zone,
looking calm, yet inside, petrified.

Even with all our communicative tools today, the most difficult thing is to communicate feelings in a meaningful and truthful way. That is why we have poetry. It does express, what just simple words can't say. And you certainly know how to use it, in that very special heartfelt way. Wonderful poem, enjoyed every verse!

Thank you so much Sandra. I do so agree with you that at the present time we have so many means of communication yet we still find it so difficult to be open and meaningful in our assessment and understanding of others..One of the reasons I so value the impact poetry can make..So pleased you enjoyed this and as always honoured to receive your lovely comments. Thank you x
