Twiddle Your Thumbs Poem by David Harris

Twiddle Your Thumbs

Sometimes you want to say something
but feel that you hands are tied
and your voice is gagged.
You want to let out those pent up emotions
feeling free to clear the air
but for some unknown reason
you hold back from letting go
becoming gagged and frustrated.
You know what you’ll say,
will cause a long argument
and that is something you do not want.
Therefore, you bite your tongue
and let the dark cloud disperse
knowing sooner or later
another time will come
and then you will not be gagged.
Saying your piece
and getting it all off your chest
but until then you sit quietly
and just twiddle your thumbs.
