Twinkle Twinkle Little, Ouch That Hurt! Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Twinkle Twinkle Little, Ouch That Hurt!

And that night, I watched as you grabbed a fishing pole
and cast towards the sky.
I don't know how you did it, but you did.
You reeled me in, away from the other stars.
Forlorn, the thought of no longer being alone persisted,
I didn't struggle. All of this was new to me.
I loved most when you held me in your arms.
Before then I've never felt such warmth.
Those moments spent in isolation, cold, alone.
I'll never forget what you've done. Minus the hook on the side of my face.
You didn't seem to mind the scars.
The grit of my surface against the palm of your hands.
All of this was brand new, I've never felt such comfort.
I shone bright watching you watching you smile back at me.
My heart stood still.
It didn't matter where I was in this universe. As long as I was with you.
Then came the issue of where to put me.
You tried to stuff me in your pocket, but I was much to large.
The thought that goes behind designer jeans is convenient for the moment.
You proceeded to bring me in the house.
We stood with puzzled faces.
How would I begin to fit through the door.
It too was much to small.
Even so, I'd take up too much space.
With nothing left to do, you sorrowfully cast me back into the sky.
Finding it much easier to catch a fish
