Two French Fancies And A Pot Of Tea Poem by Paula Glynn

Two French Fancies And A Pot Of Tea

Two French fancies and a pot of tea
Between two old friends,
Two old women
Remembering the happy days,
And the ups and downs,
The torment, the laughter,
The parties, the funerals,
The happy laughter on a sunny day
As two best friends drink their coca-cola
And eat ice cream in the park
Talking about lost loves,
Found loves, treasured loves,
Those night time passions,
Boyfriends to come and go,
Talking about their breakups
And their make-ups,
But a bond the friendship has
Those boyfriends not to know.

The love of magazines
Where two best friends
Model the clothes in the shops they see,
And also for the love of manicures,
Dresses, heels and just plain fabulous fashions,
For dressing up to be such fun
Only leaving for those nightclubs
When their makeup is done
For they want music
And to have a lot of fun,

Fashions coming and going
Throughout their lives
From 13 to 30
And 30 to 75
As they have always been best friends,
As they live their lives,
For karma gave them friendship
That time cannot end
Talking on the telephone,
But also having other friends,
Their friendship stronger than a trend,

For respect is the friendship
And knowledge of their personalities
To fit together like hand in glove
For they feel a friendship love
As time goes on and time doesn't forget
Their friendship with no heartache or regret.

And two elderly ladies
Sit at the table with two French fancies
And a pot of tea
Reminiscing of past times
And feeling the nostalgia,
The excitement, the adventure
When they went on bus,
Airplane and train
Throughout the world
Two old women
Being best friends from little girls,
And their friendship rocks the world.

And these two old ladies sit in the care home
Feeling at home, the staff treating them
To two French fancies and a pot of tea
And they talk about every memory
Every adventure and trauma
That life threw, yet they knew
Their friendship would start life anew
And bring them through
The heartache and upset,
Yet they know each other and bet
They shall continue to stay friends
With absolutely no regret,
No one to take what time has spelt,
As they sit at the table,
Having finished their two French fancies
And pot of tea.
