Can no power on this earth stop this war
when millions of people have lost their homes,
when thousands of people have lost their lives?
how will a nation uphold its duty and honor
if another nation will pound it
and turn it into a ruins and dilapidation?

When will war prevent
and stop the hardships that people have to face?
when will bombs and explosions stop
the destruction and despair it enforces?
when will soldiers and guns stop
the shootings and the killings of innocent people?
when will war with all its force rescind
the its desolation and havoc it is imposing?

Has human life no greater value than materialism?
Is war the answer to one's whims and fancies
where one nation keeps fighting another nation
to seize its entire regime?
Is war the answer where one nation keeps focusing
on gaining control over another nation?
Is war the answer where one nation keeps propelling
hostility to attain its goal and victory?

Why do so many people with patriotism in their hearts
have to flee from their own native and nation?
why do children have to sleep in hunger and cry with fear?
why will children have their beds or homes to sleep cozily?
is this war the prelude to frantic decisions
where families have to abandon the comfort of their homes
when the old and sick have no energy to walk or run?

where will women cook and feed their children?
where will they dress, bathe and clean
when they have to attend to their own monthly hygiene?
how much will they suffer and bear atrocities
how long will the war torture the helpless people?
how long will they get injured and traumatized?
what was their fault and mistake?

how many more homes will get damaged and demolished?
how many more will die and go?
how long will people cry and grieve?
why did the nation not care to think
of the plight of all its own people to whom
it owes responsibility and duty, protection and safety?

was it so easy to wage back the war or to retaliate
when the nation called Ukraine was so splendid.
and when the population of a beautiful nation
like Ukraine was so huge and content,
could this war not be avoided?
For war is just not a war and its consequences
but it is also the painful memories and grief it ingrains.
