Un Adieu. Poem by Michael Walker

Un Adieu.

Rating: 5.0

rien pour defaire a l'heure du jour;

jusqu'a ce que je fus pris d'amour;

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is a love poem about ending a love affair, with regret.The woman sounds younger than the man, confirmed by the last line: 'You must live, get on with your life'. The poem is also about the sun, which cannot be changed to west-east, and the sun's partner Time. When I thought about it, the sun rising and setting makes for Time being able to change people and physical things-decay. Time changes everything in essential partnership with the sun.

It has an interesting interaction of Images, as you describe. I like the tone of the poem, a gentle but inevitable parting. Your French is excellent, and once again your sense of rhythm is very good.
