Universe Rhythm Poem by Soran M. H

Universe Rhythm

You followed
the crashing waves,
growing
larger and larger.
You travelled
farther and farther
until the road back
was lost.
Now,
your name is the ocean.
Why return?
To the embrace
of rough nights?
Or to the shores
of contemptuous days,
stained with moments
of sorrow and grief?
You went so far
that you could no longer return,
unable to face maturity
with love.
For age knows
no language
but cruelty.
It accepts no bargain,
no compromise,
no other terms.
And now,
from the heights
of life's horizon,
you watch
the meaningless battles below.
You pity those
who never dream
of living in peace.
How weak
these heroes are.
Their dreams
outlive them.
Go,
and contemplate
the regrets of the graves.
You will find nothing
but a stray bullet
with a broken nose,
resting upon
the walls of the wasteland—
and a bewildered, thirsty crow
searching
for more bodies.
Where are those
who were ambushed by the storm?
Their screams
still echo,
reverberating
through the wind.
Who can understand
the glitter of stars
in the sky,
and the brokenness
of a heart
upon the earth?
A scream
in the darkness,
and the bright
chirp of lightning?
A cosmic obsession—
a cliché of truth.
The tear
of the oppressed,
or a flood
of intermittent rain?
