One morning
before we wake up
the postman freezes
just before putting a letter
into the letterbox
No more will ever arrive
The apple falling from the tree
remains in the air
never reaching the ground
Time - such a bright bulb
Suddenly turns off
We have no last chance
to look at
the photos in our albums
Life's colour vanishes
into nothing
The snowman stays alone
in the garden
for all seasons
still motionless. Nothing to watch
no starlings landing on his shoulders
any more..
One morning we slip deep into our dreams
and do not come back.

The ultimate stanza is so gripping and creates a deep impact into the mind leaving the reader to ponder thoughts about life and death. A great poem beautifully crafted. Onto my Poem List. LIke the picture that goes with this marvelous poem.
Dear poet and critic Rose...Honestly I am proud of the level of your understanding and your way of dealing with the poem, Roland Barthes calling this class of readers as a reproducer or re-writer of the text, you have very active mind and so great feeling, so well reacting to the message of the poem and you can open their codes and symbols... wish you every success...Many thanks
I also think that we who are left behind feel that freezing. I have felt it before; there is something frozen about walking into an empty house, left the way it was on their final breath. Everything is frozen in time...
This is one of the best poetic depictions of death I think I have read in a while! Indeed, the world that we leave behind does seem to freeze in place.
Fantastic imagery that leaves a deep impact in the mind, a real gem of a poem.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
I particularly liked the choice of title A Snowman Alone. Something so temporary and short-lived as a snowman left remaining in time. Great levels of poetry. Very much enjoyed.
Many thanks dear poet Clive for your comment..yes you are right the title has got very strong relation with the theme and topic...wish you all the best..thanks for your time..kind regards
