Upon Backbones Bent Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Upon Backbones Bent

We all have come,
To live these days.
Listening to hear,
Increasing excuses made.
For conscious and known,
Wrong doing done.
With this expected to take patience.
And more tolerance to overcome.

Yet the ones committing,
Their wrong doing for decades.
Refuse to accept accountability,
For what they have done to accuse...
Those abused and victimize(d) ,
To rely on denial.
And delusions more to soothe,
Done to claim their placing of blame...
Upon those treated,
Not as citizens of the United States.
But as servants less deserving,
To get and receive respect to them shown...
For being instrumental,
Not only for America's greatness.
But also being,
America's backbone.
Many have climbed and stood upon,
To praise themselves from Sunrise.
Until that same Sun sets.

Claiming the ones,
With their backbones bent.
As emerging threats,
To entitlements they are undeserving to get.
