Vaishnavism Poem by Rm. Shanmugam Chettiar

Vaishnavism

Vaishnavism is one of the major Hindu sects
Along with Shaivism, Shaktism, and Smartism.
Lord Vishnu is the sole Supreme being.
Its subsects are Krishnaism and Ramaism.

There is no founder for this well spread sect.
It is from the merger of non-Vedic deities.
The Vaishnavite tradition is for the loving
Devotion to an avatar of Vishnu

Vishnu is said to descend as an avatar
To restore cosmic order. Dashavatara (ten)
Are Matsya (fish) , Kuma (Tortoise) , Varaha (Boar) , Narsimha (Man-lion)
Vamana (dwarf) , Parsurama (Warier) Balarama, Rama, Krishna and yet to come Kalki.

The relationship between God and the world
Is love, and a conscious emanation
From Him. We're to Him as a child to a parent,
As a friend to a friend, and as a beloved to a lover.

Narayana, Vasudeva, Krishna
And Rama are popular names of the Vishnu.
Devotion to Him in the path shown by
Vedas and Upanishads leads to Moksha.
