Vanquished, But.... Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

Vanquished, But....

Rating: 5.0

Doors threw open
People, like butterflies
just out of silken cocoons
Looked fresh 'n cool, but inexact

Heads aren't as light as they were
Their gaits aren't normal either
Some fear, haunting inside,
Made onlookers bit fearful

Sirens on road, hasten heart beat
With masks on, people seem abnormal
Clumsy gestures agitate my ego
Why, I really do not know

Every soul on foot, in disguise
Is in fear and doubt....
of a confrontationwith
Covid 19, the naughty being

Hey! .. Please keep out of my way,
and leave me alone
I got to earn a meal today
for my starving kids

Sirens on road, hasten heart beat With masks on, people seem abnormal....Time of Corona virus has created the fearful situation. The scene is witnessed. We have to maintain social distancing. There is no other option. The way will be kept for you in safety and security. An amazing poem is brilliantly penned for social awareness.
