Vedas 27 - Ishavasyopanishad -Hymn 17 - O Mind Remember! Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Vedas 27 - Ishavasyopanishad -Hymn 17 - O Mind Remember!

Rating: 5.0

Let my ‘Vayu' or the Life breath go,
Let it mingle and permeate with the
All pervading wind - The immortal ‘Prana'!

Let this body be burnt to ashes!

Remember! O Mind!
Remember your purpose - ‘Kratu' in life,
Remember your deeds -‘Krta'in life.

O Mind! Strive only for the imperishable!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is the interpretation given to verse 17 of Ishavasyopanishad.
This is a verse that is chanted as a Mantra at the hour of death, to remind one of the perishable nature of the body and the imperishable nature of the soul.
With this, i conclude my poems on the Ishavasyopanishad, which has only 18 hymns in total. The last verse is a general prayer of petition.

It is a pleasure to read this wonderful interpretation. These verses form the prayers which stress upon the unity of Atman, immortal 'Pran' and Brahaman transcending the mortal remains of body. I am trying to pick up the threads of this deep scriptural content. I sincerely thank you, Geeta ji.

Let my ‘Vayu' or the Life breath go, Let it mingle and permeate with the All pervading wind - The immortal ‘Prana'! .......nice general prayer of petition. Immortal prana or soul leaves body. A beautiful poem shared incisively.
