Viewing The Solar Eclipse Poem by Perdita Young (Hanna Wang)

Viewing The Solar Eclipse

Celestial paths meet at Heaven's crossroad,
The Moon casts meek shadow upon her Lord.
The curving line resembles a dog's bite, (as goes the legend)
The Sun transforms into a Moon, crescent and red.

Wind arises in doubtful twilight and mystic gloom,
Cicadas' shrill chirpings get on one's nerves.
Birds take refuge in trees awaiting a queer night,
While noisy kids run about, shouting in excitement.

Basins and gongs were faintly heard from the distant,
But could they scare the heavenly Dog out of bite?
Suddenly, rippling beads begin to dance round the disc,
Then the fiery flames flee from hedges, with no risk.

The din and fuss persisted on for many a minute,
Just like the applause duly for a show super-great.
