Villanelle: Bells Ring Thru Fortified Wall Poem by Perdita Young (Hanna Wang)

Villanelle: Bells Ring Thru Fortified Wall

Bells ring thru fortified wall,
O shatter innermost yawn,
The mind will sprout, for its Sol.

Too early is winter's call,
When we converse with tinted dawn.
Bells ring thru fortified wall.

The circle shrinks to dot so small,
While naked trees chill near the lawn.
The mind will sprout, for its Sol.

But frost falls ere the stove, a doll
Of evil dress-changes for big pawn.
Bells ring thru fortified wall.

Lo brownish beams of spirit's hall,
Where fungus grows to be drawn.
The mind will sprout, for its Sol.

Abandoned long, how should I install
A hut for th' graceful, free withdrawn.
Bells ring thru fortified wall.
The mind will sprout, for its Sol.
