Village Path Poem by Ratan Ghosh

Walking slowly in the moonlit village pathway,

Which winds down like a snake on it's way,

Through the grassy lands and the meadow,

Few cottages here and  there enhancing the show

On a full moon night.



The night has wrapped its veil,

It's calmer and quieter except the barking of the stray.

Few tall trees creating mysterious shadow,

On a very romantic evening with a full moon in sky,

Two young friends returning from a musical show.



That was many many years back,

It's still in their memory pack,

Only Witnessed by the starry sky,

On a country path, under the moonlit sky,

Two souls met on a full moon night.



Must be an auspicious moment,

Two hearts met for friendship of life,

Or was it not so auspicious after all!

The two young hearts moved apart,

In different corners of the Earth!



Can they go back to the moonlit night

To recreate the romantic village path?

Alas! the path is no longer romantic

With bright yellow electric lights.

Hardly mysterious on a full moon night!



The young couple have gone through different lives,

But still remembers that romantic night

Holding each other's arms, walking side by side,

On a village path, on a tranquil full moon night

They still can feel the feelings of the heart.
