Volunteering To Be Victims Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Volunteering To Be Victims

When deceivers begin to plead,
For more publicity.
And public attention given,
With this demanded to receive and get.
There should be no one left to doubt.
Why this need is shouted out,
From rooftops far and near to hear.
A waning to fade,
And fearing it slipping away.
Quicker than removing...
The charading to masquerade,
Dependable tasks from a past to have had.
And misdeeds to deny lies to tell.
Told to sell and accept.
To keep the truth kept disbelieved.

Yet...
Those days of hypocrisy.
Used to disguise,
A victimizing innocent lives.
And doing this relentlessly,
While enjoying the increasing rise...
Of confusion, conflict and racial division.
Has come to shaken awake,
The many unconscious.
Realizing while asleep,
Their lives to live...
Are regarded by deceivers,
No more than just bait.
As if commodities to waste.
Then replaced like toys.

Too many have begun to see it.
Too many have begun,
To notice and hear...
From where this deception comes.
And too many disbelieving,
Their support to give as volunteers...
Has condoned to cheer on,
Their own willingness to be victims.
With inviting illnesses of all kinds!
