Voting For Change Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Voting For Change

Does a change to commit,
A doing of it.
Take a voting to decide,
That time has come...
To do it done.

A change needed to make,
Takes motivation and desire.
With truth to face,
Never is it made easy...
To evaluate and self examine.
What it is that is needed most,
Not to hope it.
But to do for oneself.
Done with discipline first to notice.
Without awaiting for results,
From others to declare...
A change needed to wish and want,
Has come to allow and permit...
The act of it has been given approval.

"Whew.
What a close call.
I can now make those improvements,
For so long I have been waiting to do."

-Interesting.
What stopped you from doing it? -

"My political and religious affiliation."

-Uh...
Had they been liberal or...conservative based? -

"That's a good question.
For years I had been 'undecided'.
But the recent election,
Made a difference in my life."

-Uh...
I am lost for words! -

"You?
For years I had been making excuses,
Why I couldn't stay committed...
To New Year resolutions I made."

-What a revealing statement to make.-

"Tell me about it.
And I'm willing to bet,
I am not the only one relieved."
