Vulnerable Poem by Holly Jamestone

Vulnerable

As tears are to melancholy memories
As marshmallows are to open flame
As bare feet are to scorching asphalt
As land is to hovering rain clouds
And as longing hearts are to love

As autumn leaves are to swirling winds
As tomato vines are to lingering frost
As lonely hearts are to a ringing phone
As souls are to the world beyond
And as smiles are to mood changes

As progress is to sluggish complacence
As denial is to open truth
As mastering is to finally relenting
As illness is to eventual death
And as hope is to shattered dreams

As lawns are to dandelion's offspring
As skin is to a feather's touch
As the mind is to subtle torment
As the stars are to the dawn
And as God is to all of our whims
