Being complacent is just a habit
Of most workers in government service!
Not because there are no works in office
But there are more unofficial works.
A easy go government system abreast
Busy to hush and patch ups of squabbles!
To grab up land, lake and forest or wealth
By rulers of any colure or shades!
From near-by Bay of Bengal, a tiny gale!
Born out of a deep depression
Set course to destroy men and machinery
Through the long sea shores of this tiny state!
Tsunami swept through this shores a decade back,
And a net-work of early warning system installed
But was not used to warn of this impending storm
That now caused destruction death and misery.
Now anxiety is wide spread, for those,
Fishermen missing in the sea for days on
Mothers and children weeping on the sea shore
For those men who may not come anymore.
Those bodies brought from sea, are fully decayed
Weeping relatives try to identify their kin
But to no avail for they can never know
If their dear ones are dead, may be they will
Wait till their own end for the return of their Dead.
The vultures are merry, while the dragons killed many.
…………….
The tragedy that hit the coastal regions has been so shocking! Definitely an earlier caution alert could have averted the intensity of loss of lives and property! Unfortunately our rulers, these days, are more engaged with the thought of how to hush up the increasing scandals and rising accusations against them! A very compassionate write, also hard hitting!
