Walking With Pride Poem by Paula Glynn

Walking With Pride

I walk with pride,
For I work hard,
And am accepted by the world,
My disadvantage,
Has become my strength,
For I am stronger than ever,
I am brave, cool and tough,
For you'll know,
When I've had enough.

I brave stormy weather,
That rocks this boat,
In a sea of emotions,
But to my work,
I have ambition and devotion,
And I ask for guidence,
I even say the odd prayer,
And it does help,
Knowing you are there.

I know the world loves me,
Because I love myself,
I walk those streets with pride,
And no one needs to take a side:
I get along with everybody I meet,
And am flattered on the bus,
When I am offered a seat.

I face friendly smiles,
For everyone knows how proud I am,
Even if I am not loud,
But I have my skills,
I have my ambition and intuition,
I let no one grind me down,
I let no one force me out of town.

I walk and talk with pride,
I play on my strengths,
And because I accept the world,
The world accepts me,
Even with my problems,
Even with my struggles,
So I look to the sky each morning,
And face the day with courage.
