Wanting Tomorrow Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Wanting Tomorrow

Rating: 3.0

Tomorrow is too far away at times, wanting it to come today,
because there are too many difficulties at hand.

Time cannot be hurried or slowed down, it flows at it's own
mathematical pace and answers to no one.

Drifting helplessly in moments of today, restless, looking
forward to another day.

Hoping it will bring better times, leaving behind all the
difficulties that are accumulating.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Again and again we poets learn the lesson of the ages that TIME IS OUR ENEMY, because in its tick-tock monotony it is killing what we most love: youth, beauty, vitality and health, love ones. We can dream of escapes but none is possible. Your dream in this poem is to leap-frog over an bad present into an open future. Alas, time can't be so defeated. It is like the skin which surrounds our souls. B-U-T I am only saying what you already know so well: A Poem creates an alternative reality in which we can dwell imaginatively, ease our pains, heal our wounds, restore our energy ] and then drop back into time.
