Watched Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Watched

Up and above my head.
The presence of countless stars are there.
Sparkling and twinkling bright everywhere.
With a clarity to appear,
As if eyes upon us here on Earth.
Wish us peace.
Done with restful nights of sleep.

Watched.
To observe we are.
More than we believe watching.
To be watched.
Both near and far.
Not to know what or who,
May be watching all that we do.

If God does exist to accept and believe this.
To have created visions,
We claim and label to give them names.
Then who are we,
To continually deny the impossible.
The impossibility of life.
Blessed to receive.
And bestowed with a consciousness,
From an eternal unending...
Vast and massive Universe of diversity.

Who are we to delude a truth to refuse it.
With excuses made that permits confusion.
While abusing honesty.
And the evidence of proof.
Produced yet refuted.

We are watched.
More than we are the watchers.
To be watched.
Both near and far and not to know,
Who or what it is that keeps us...
To be viewed.
And why is it we live,
Kept limited to a primitive awareness.
As if to fear,
Awakening from a self imposing darkness.
Although from darkness,
We are born to be watched.
