Water Under The Bridge - Poem by Juan Olivarez

Water under the bridge,
Flowing swiftly down the stream.
Fading in the distance,
Like so many broken dreams.

Water under the bridge,
Like promises flowing away.
Or dumped unceremoniously in a ditch,
Never welcome, so they could not stay.

Too much water has passed away,
To make a difference anymore.
There just can't be a brighter day,
Somebody's walking out the door.
