Big Bang,
Each birth
And hatching
And sprouting forth.
We don’t know why,
Or how,
Or for how long:
I hope eternal.
Just knowing
I think
That no-one in this realm
Of Ours
Has so far escaped from Death:
Except, for now, the oldest tree.
