We Dread The Sleepless Nights... Poem by Madina Morr

We Dread The Sleepless Nights...

She dreads the sleepless nights. restless as she toss and turn. her eyes are always shut, but the dreams...they never come. she dreads the sleepless nights. the sun sets, the moon rise, and before she knows it, night takes here by surprise. she lay stiff on the old wooden couch. she makes no sound, yet a silent scream escape from her mouth. she holds on for dear life, to a lifeless teddy bear she calls her own. other people might think its awful, but this is what we call home. she dreads the sleepless night, but her family never see's her cry. and her strength shows because she never ask GOD why. she dreads the sleepless night, every night she has to fight for a place to sleep. she knows she deserve to live, but she's not sure if she deserves to be happy. as night falls to the early morning, she grabs on to me. holding me tight as she finally falls asleep. i sing her a lullaby, tiers descend from me. i'm sad-but i refuse to let her see. so i hide it deep within me. not willing to share. i must not tell, for if i dare...she too will know, that i also, DREAD THE SLEEPLESS NIGHTS.
